Out and About
Things to do, places to go.
Children at Kent College Nursery, Infant and Junior School have a huge variety of clubs and activities to enjoy. This is all part of our determination to develop bright, enquiring minds with a desire to experience new things and master new skills.
As well as the artistic and sporting activities described on other pages, we offer an almost bewildering array of other exciting options. Within the school or in our local area every child can choose from a list covering such subjects as chess, swimming, (we have our own heated pool that is highly popular with families during the summer holidays), craft, sailing, pottery, cookery, touch typing and scientific explorations well beyond the requirements of the curriculum. On some days there seems hardly a single child going home at the ‘normal’ time, such is the demand for further stimulation when lessons are over.
Nor does the programme end at the front door. Our children make regular visits to local places of interest, not only to support the curriculum but to broaden their educational experience. For the younger ones this can involve visits to local beauty spots to encourage awareness of environmental issues and later on there are trips to museums and galleries.
Once in the Junior School our children can start enjoying longer trips. Year 5 have a short adventure holiday in France while Year 6 makes a regular week-long pilgrimage to the Isle of Wight, and juniors can also go on sail-training holidays. Each term there is a Sports Tour to East Anglia or the South coast for our Year 6 pupils. Our children enjoy many opportunities for residential experience away from home.
All in all, it is almost impossible to be bored at Kent College Infant and Junior School.
